For the past five years, New York-based artist Olek has been creating socially conscious public “actions” that shape, inform and transform the dialogue between performer, observer and participant. Her first experience crocheting a bicycle took place on the lower east side while in residence at AAI-LES Rotating Studio Program, which prompted her to further investigate the possibilities of participatory actions.
